| ISDN is a proven service, now firmly established in today's wide area networking market. The SBU family of ISDN solutions give users of leased line services the benefits of redundancy for guaranteed, non-stop operation - a prerequisite for today's mission-critical networking environments.
In normal operation, user data is passed over the link with the backup units remaining "transparent" to all data. If the link fails, the unit provides resilience by automatically redirecting the data over BRI/PRI ISDN "B" channels. When the primary link is recovered, the backup unit can be set to drop the ISDN call automatically and switch back to the main circuit, or provide an ALERT and await your intervention.

One of Enterprise users’
biggest disappointments regarding Ethernet services is that they are often
un-available in certain locations. This is especially problematic for
multi-site Enterprises that are geographically diverse. Delivering Ethernet
services ubiquitously requires carriers to use a variety of access technologies
such as fiber, SONET/SDH, TDM (EoT3/E3/T1/E1) and copper (EoDSL) as well as a
variety of leased services (TDM, SONET and Ethernet) to reach all of a
multi-site customer’s end points. An additional challenge is to make all of the
Ethernet services offered over a variety of technologies to look the same.
